As the warm air of summer graces the Los Angeles basin, a feeling of promises fills the air and minds of every gamer in the world. These euphoric feelings are brought upon the illustrious E3 Expo from Los Angeles; considered the Mecca of all things gaming and tech. Although much of the anticipation for this year’s releases were a bit subsided due to the extravagance of last year, this E3 had very much to offer. To kick things off was EA.
Battlefront 2 storms into the fray
The first game up on the menu was the much anticipated Battlefront 2. This sequel to the second original had many fans wondering if this game would have any of the improvements that were called upon by the players. Alas from the play-through at the conference, there is much that has been done to make Battlefront 2 superior to its predecessor. Other than the obvious upgrade in graphics, the gameplay overall was improved. From first-hand experience, I noticed that the game had a plethora of new features that such as the new point system that allows one to gain access to heroes such as Rey and Darth Maul. The Graphics were stunning as usual from EA. Although the sensitivity that was standard was a bit off to me, which can be changed in the settings upon purchase. Overall this game should be anticipated to make a big splash once it comes out.
The EA Anthem rings through the halls
The next reveal was a new game called Anthem, a new Sci-fi game with amazing environments, sizable armored monsters, and NPC. Although the teaser trailer was vague on the overall premise of the game, EA stated that more would be announced at the Microsoft press conference. Please reference Part 3 of the E3 series for more details on the game.
Prison Break Meets Online Play
EA also brought a twist to the game titles that would be a total co-op game called A Way Out, a game that focuses on your tandem being able to escape from prison. The game will be available to be played either Split Screen or Online.
EA still has some horsepower left in it
It cannot be EA without another addition to the Need For Speed franchise. The new installment, named Payback, is very reminiscent of a certain Vin Diesel movie franchise. With fast cars, amazing customizations, and fun tracks to race on, who would not want to play this game?
EA digs deep in the trenches
Although the acclaimed shooter Battlefield 1 came out in 2016, EA felt it was appropriate to give fans some new night maps. The maps will be available later this summer. Additionally, a new expansion will be released under the name In The Name of the Tsar. The expansion will include new maps from the Eastern Front of WW1. The expansion will be available in September with more information about it coming at Gamescon in August.
Nothing much was delivered in the area of the famed sports genre for EA other than the fact that Madden will be receiving a story mode similar to NBA 2K17.
